@randomwizard@vivaldi.net I still want to come up with a skill system that comes from playing. something like "I try and pick the lock" and then you suddenly have a new skill "pick locks" at level 0. then as you pick locks it slowly develops, in steps appropriate to whatever resolution mechanic is being used.
I want it to be disconnected from attributes, since lockpicking (for example) isn't just about manual dexterity - it's logic and intuition and perception too. and it's hard! if you don't know how a particular lock works, you haven't got a clue how to pretend you have a key. I often "solve" problems in games that only I want solved, but this is one I've been working on in my head for a while (skills like this, not just the lockpicking).

    @frotz Sounds cool. Reminds me of Ultima Online or Morrowind.

    Could probably start off with Runequest or Stormbringer but just blank out the skills and tell players that have no skills yet. At least, as a start.
