The game company Atomic Ninja Studios is apparently going out of business. They're shutting down on the 24th. Their DriveThruRPG page will be completely shutdown, and old materials removed from libraries.
They made a lot of #SavageWorlds content including a few one-shots I quite liked.
They're having a sale on Friday and Saturday, and I'll probably pickup one or two things I missed.

A conceptual problem I've had with TTRPGs in general is that there are few times in a game session where it makes sense to me to roll dice. Outside of combat scenarios, it seems like players spend most of their time trying to understand the situation the characters are in, in a given scene, and once they've figured it out, they spend time trying to come up with a plan for dealing with the situation, and most often, if a plan they come up with would work at all, it usually doesn't make sense to me that it would not work. They already took their characters' abilities and constraints into consideration when they came up with the plan.
It feels to me like most game mechanics are a pretense. Even in a rules-light system, most of what's written down on a character sheet will never be relevant. I'd say it's an issue I have, but I've found it to be the case when I've played with other GMs, whatever the system we're using.

So, we do a thing at my work called Business Continuity Planning, which is similar to Disaster Recovery, but has to do with loss of personnel. As the team lead, I was on deck to answer how we'd handle a loss of at least 50% staff for 30 days. This was recorded for ... posterity?

The group leveled up in the latest session, which brought up an old topic we have discussed a few times in the past. Fighters and thieves seem a bit odd in the scheme of dungeons and dragons if you are trying to extrapolate how does the "pseudo physics engine of D&D" work?
You can see that magic users are investigating magic. Tapping into some force to get more powerful.
Clerics a tapping into a higher (or lower) power.
But for a melee class to be able to take on a dragon, they must be tapping into some power beyond what a normal man is capable of. Is that force ever explained?
