The last two days were the most scary part of our journey so far. On the river Rhein a small boat like ours needs to stay out of the way of river barges, ferries and cargo ships. But outside of the shipping channel, even a broad river can be quite shallow. We had our depth sounder alarm set to 2 m and tried to skirt along the 3 m depth line. Still that thing went off all the time ... with readings jumping up and down abruptly from about 8 m to about 1.5 m. Glad we didn't hit anything 🙂
