The Borderland Demesne

Welcome to my demense!

Occasionally I feel like writing something and sharing, and here is where those impulses go.

About Me

I am left-oriented, live in the United States, and like virtually everyone my age I have a lot of interests and many hobbies that I cycle through.

I am generally socially reserved and private, though I do enjoy social interactions.

Computing is a significant part of my life, for good or ill.

Hobbies

I play a lot of computer games but my taste is eccentric, and I don't normally play computer games for social interaction.

I like UNIX and UNIX-likes (e.g., linux), though I do not like the direction the linux community is headed with regards to their many projects meant to assuage the corporate interests who are the principal developers now.

Tabletop roleplaying games were a large hobby of mine in past years, but are less of an interest currently. I think about them quite a bit, even if I don't play many. I currently am running a Star Frontiers game occasionally for some friends.

I used to participate in the Internet Office Hours podcast, which primarily is a round-table discussion about old-style (in this context this refers to game systems created before 1985 or so) TTRPG gameplay. Mostly I edit it now.

As mentioned above, I have a lot of other interests that wax and wane with my moods. Most recently, I have been working on NetBSD on my main desktop to replace Debian.

Contact

I do not interact much on most social media, but have a couple of accounts on ActivityPub servers:
