Those who follow my blather know I'm not into "monsters," partly because many of them are lousy at dialogue. Most versions of vampires don't have that problem, which means I sometimes enjoy them!
Another thing about "monsters" is that they're often presented as FTKs (Free To Kill, no need for pesky moral consideration) and I don't care for FTKs. But again: vampires sometimes vary on that point, so that's another reason I sometimes enjoy them.
I'm having a vampire-enjoying moment. 🧛♀️

I wanted the seasons to show that our campaign is leaning more heavily towards Weird Fiction, Rifts and Thundarr than Mad Max... #TTRPG #ApocalypseWorld
I wrote this strange little program to try and figure out just how many magic items would a character have at various levels in Moldvay/Cook B/X Dungeons & Dragons.
The concept is,
You are a level 1 fighter.
You pick what level you want to be.
It generates rooms from the stock tables.
It generates monsters from the monster tables.
It generates treasure from the treasure tables.
You defeat all monsters.
You find all treasure.
The simulation stops when you reach (or go above) the desired level.

so yesterday we had Glimmermark Session 52, which coincidentally also was the end of year 2 of the campaign.
This means that on average we played every two weeks, which is the most regular game I have ever managed.
There was really not much special that was actually happening in the session though. They were going through the underground under the Castle a bit more and got into conflict with a bunch of Troglodytes after triggering their alarm system. The rest was exploration.
With the help of a strange old man, a group of unlikely companions set forth through Eriador.
Their journey will change the course of their lives and the fate of Middle Earth itself!

Some thoughts on RPGs I've been mulling over for a couple years
I often mock grognard 1974-only GMs. But I'm currently rewriting my "little sword game" again bc I thought of some better ways to do class, exp, & mana, so easier to just copy-paste a whole new rulebook.
Also checked out the new edition of Labyrinth Lord, but A) the 2024 beta tests were buggy as hell, B) the dtrpg store page is all complaints about errors, & C) he wants $10 for the PDF of this buggy mess, more for print!!! No, my dude. BasicFantasy is CC, PDFs free, I'll hack on them.
