Which, he recognizes at the end that's not how any game should be run, least of all this. What he doesn't know is A) Gary claimed AD&D was a Perfect 1000-Year Game WIth No Errors Like Unto Chess (& was wrong).
B) AD&D 1E is very far from the "GM can make it fun" path of Blackmoor & OD&D & most OSR games.
C) They ran Temple of Elemental Evil; my condolences.
Historian @appelcline spent nearly a decade researching the history behind each and every #ttrpg release TSR put out for OD&D, AD&D 1e, and Basic D&D.

Mich macht die Art-Punk-Sache skeptisch. Ich will, dass Rollo DIY ist. Dieser Hochglanz-Ironie-Zugang sagt doch eher, das kann ich Wurm nie. #ttrpg

Poking into the archives, I ran across this little explainer graphic from the G+ days (the difference between an isometric map and Sutherland's custom parallel projection used for Castle Ravenloft, to help demonstrate just _one_ reason why the Sutherland projection has advantages over isometric).

Just geometric shapes, stacked. The isometric squares stand point-to-point while my approximation of the Sutherland squares dovetail more. A point of trivia: Sutherland's projection drifts slightly from level to level, since he was doing it all the old fashioned way, with physical tools on a drafting board.

It has to be fully fictional, not something you can make irl (i.e. not just a recipe that came from fiction) and also not real life food with fictional properties (e.g. Quickstep or other blended drinks from Dead Rising, etc)

I've wanted to see an Alternity microlite ever since #Microlite20 was first released. If you're unfamiliar with M20, there's an unofficial homepage at: https://microlite20.org/
That's about 20 years.
Now, Tim Kirk of Silverlion Studios and I are putting in the work. We've already decided on how to do stats and skills. We're wrangling with durability and damage right now; I expect our next conversation should settle it. After that come weapons, armor, and equipment. Following that, we'll take a look at psionics and cyberwear, and possibly design some aliens. Our (my) plan is to release a basic core and let other folks design additional stuff, like FX (arcane and faith magic, and supeerpowers) and campaigns, or do it ourselves later if we get froggy.
The game will be released under an open license, either CC or ORC, to enable free additions. There will probably befits and starts in the development process, because let's face it, there's a lot to condense. But I'm super excited to be working with Tim, a long-time friend who is super creative (go check out his games: Hearts and Souls [supers], and High Valor [fantasy] at: https://silverlionstudios.com/ ). We will also be partnering with a third person on another, even bigger project. Scifinity was somehing I mentioned to Tim that we could do for practice working together while we wait for that third partner's schedule to clear up.
Updates will be coming to both my blog and Mastodon!

I made a very small game called THE OLD GUARD. You play old knights ridden by regrets from the past. Your regrets may also suprisingly help you make it through another day. The two big dangers to avoid when looking at RPGs are the Nostalgia Trap and the Cult of the New. Either one can lead one to missing out on some really cool games.
That being said, I do think the huge variety of games, and years of game design do make the current #TTRPG scene much richer and healthier than it was in the past.
Also, dice are much better than they were in the past. Hard to deny that one.
My collective kitchen buddy Paul and his friends have designed an RPG!
¡SILENCIO! is a small TTRPG around spies, in an alternate cold war era for maximum 4 players and 1 GM.
The game allows players to express themselves with cool gadgets in a fun and exaggerated setting. In ¡SILENCIO! you will take part in special operations for the secret services of one of the three big alliance existing in this alternate version of the cold war.
Just played in my third session of #MythicBastionland
It's a lovely setting that genuinely lives up to the title "Mythic", and our GM is running it very well.
As a forever GM, it's nice to sit back as a player and just explore a #TTRPG setting I don't know much about.
