I'm spending more of my spare time writing material for TTRPGs, and the words and ideas are beginning to flow.
In the interests of trying to do this in a more professional way, I've launched a little Patreon that will showcase that game development work (and the occasional diversion into life in the bush).
I'd be delighted if any of you chose to follow my efforts. You can find me at https://www.patreon.com/cw/forestvalleygames.

I got the revised version of #GURPS 4E (well, the PDF version).
I just wish there was a snowball's chance in hell for convincing my local #ttrpg group to use this.

So, what to do in #Aarhus and #Malmö ? I am into #OSR and #Indie #TTRPG and like #Wargaming of the #ForbiddenPsalm / #Indie28 kind. Well, I actually also like playing #BoardGames and listening to #atmosphericblackmetal and #dungeonsynth . Bonus: any stuff to do with my family and good places for eating out.
10 years ago yesterday, Cloud Giant's Bargain was given out in theaters showing an event where Penny Arcade played D&D live as Acquisitions Incorporated!
I had the pleasure of writing this, while @scottfgray turned my words into magic! It is one of my favorite projects.
I need some interesting magic items to give my group. I must admit, Nimble’s sample magic items are very few and not the best.
I want to give them some useful utility items that won’t break the game but will expand their options.

I put the "geomorphed" sliced and diced version of the caves of chaos, the cavern of quasqueton, and the DUNGEON! board game all together. (Image 1)
Some day I will be able to run all the classic D&D modules all at once... a bit of Acerak's death traps, a sprinkling of Ravenloft's gothic horror, and maybe a side of Castle Amber
🇫🇷Je viens de découvrir cette gigantesque agrégation d’illustration dans le domaine public. Génial pour ceux qui, comme moi veulent un manuscrit sans IA générative mais qui n’ont pas de moyens.
🏴 I just discovered this huge aggregation of public domain illustrations. Very useful for those who want human-made content but don’t have the ability to pay.

I've made an updated version of an existing cheat sheet for the Gardens of Ynn depthcrawl adventure.
Very useful at the table.

This is at the intersection of #TTRPG and #art for Fedifolks:
I am looking to commission a #map for a #Pathfinder 1e campaign. The setting is a large island, roughly circular, with multiple countries arranged in a ring around a central mountainous plateau wherein a Dark Force (possibly even a Dark Tower *cough*ripping off a beloved board game *cough*) is beginning to stir, threatening the entire island. A few smaller islands may lie scattered around the main island.
Any #artist out there interested in taking the commission? I can describe more if we connect. Definitely a paying job. Any takers?
My OD&D group took a night off and we tested out how using Chainmail as our combat mechanic would work. It was an interesting time - using abstract/mass, trying out Fantastic combat and then seeing an example of Man-to-Man melee in action.
Will we use it going forward? Perhaps! There's some interest in using abstract/mass combat to speed along wandering monster or large group encounters, and possibly exploring the detailed combat as it uses bellcurved 2d6 vs flat 1d20.
It was maybe 1989 or 1990 when I first started saying some version of the following in GMing conversations:
"When I prep, there's a likely version of the game session in my head, but anytime it actually goes that way, I feel a little pang of disappointment."
Delight at the PCs upending my expectations, to the point of (a little) sadness when they didn't, was a pillar of my GMing years before I had the tools or perspective I have now, but it's a clear antecedent. 😅
Dark Sun barely fit in goofy-ass AD&D 2E, there was still *some* survival/resource management left in the game, but 3E, 4E, & now 5E adaptations have just gone full in on fantasy superheroes.
The writing for the original books is more like Gamma World 1E, or fantasy Twilight 2000. Powerful but very squishy characters try to survive day by day, maybe die leading a revolt somewhere.

I mean, I have some notes for a "post-cataclysmic canals of Mars" like #ttrpg, but maybe I should instead go for… well… "Vamos a la Player", a game where RPG playing pieces fight for the love of their owner before the blast of a nuclear bomb hits (will the replacement d6 be able to beat the mint condition Citadel Chaos Marauder?) or something similarly twee.
Outlaws of the North
My group is headed to Imperial Hill next session, named for the old fort on the hill when this was the old border of the empire hundreds of years ago.
What are some interesting places to see there? Fun facts? Signature produce?
It does sit in the middle of Marsanne wine country.
Been looking at the caves of chaos again from B2 The Keep on the Borderlands. (Image 2)
Was looking into the possibility of cutting up the caves into geomorph tiles.
I cut up cave A, the kobold lair and made a 10 x 10 geomorph (Image 1)
Many years ago I made a couple of geomorph tilesets.
I cut up the Dungeon! boardgame. (Image 3)
I cut up the first level of B1 In Search of the Unknown (Image 4)
