People very rarely sign up for my tiny, specialized #Mastodon instance, but in the last few days I've had a string of seven accounts signing up. They all have normal-looking profile pictures and normal-sounding names, but I haven't seen much activity from them and they haven't responded to my greetings.
This makes me suspect they're bots of some kind, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, turns out they're all bots. A few sign up each day, so I've had to enable a feature which means I have to manually approve all new accounts on my instance. Yaaay. This makes it more frustrating for real users to sign up, because they have to await my approval.
Once again, commercial forces are f---king up the free and open web. Thanks a lot.
