I am in the very beginnings of two collaborative #TTRPG projects. One is a two-person teamup to realize a dream I've had for 20 years, involving "microliteing" a classic game I love that never really got a chance before being killed by its publisher. The second is a larger team, four people now, attempting to create what I consider my "ultimate version" of a particular game/genre that will take a lot more work than the first project. I don't want to give out too many details before either one really gets rolling, so as not to excite and then disappoint folks if either or both ultimately fail.
So, as you can see, if you really want to be more realistic about the use of gold coins in a typical fantasy #ttRPG #RPG setting, you aren't going to just happen upon 4,000 gp lying around in a dungeon, and even the typical starting player-character's 50-125 gp in the #DnD5e24 rules would be a huge amount of money.

Talking elsewhere about GMing:
Roll a die, 1: Screw the players, 2: No, but. 3: No, and. 4: Yes, but. 5: Yes, and. 6: Monty Haul. For GMs who can't see what's appropriate, at least that'd vary the reaponses.
The good GM response is to measure what the players want against the needs of the milieu. So you have to have figured that out first, either with random lists of stuff, or actual prewritten adventure, or hallucinate it on the fly which is VERY hard.

So I finally had a look at Electric Bastionland, and I don't know if I would want to run it, but two things are amazing
1. Maps of the city are transport maps. You can reach everything on foot, but it's implied PCs are gonna use some sort of transport (train, bus, channel, etc.). The map becomes the geography of the setting.
2. Muppets.
